Abstract:The presentation consists of two parts. First, I will introduce the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) data, including sampling design, questionnaires, project implementation and quality control. Next, I will introduce two randomized controlled cash transfer experiments we conducted in the past 3 years. The first one is “The Labor Income Incentive Program”, which targets the poverty groups with the ability to work. This program gives cash bonuses to the working income of the poor. It aims to encourage poor households to increase their income through increased labor supply. The other experiment is the "Youth Education Promotion Program", which provides cash incentives to students who meet their learning goals. The goal of this project is to enhance the learning motivation of students in poor areas, in order to increase their human capital accumulation and block the intergenerational transmission of poverty.
